Neil Island and Havelock Island, Among the Best Tourist Destinations in Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Neil Island is one of the scenic islands

in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The island is beautifully placed at a distance of about 40 km towards north-east of Port Blair, the capital city of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Neil Island is also known as the ‘Vegetable bowl of Andaman’ due to the favorable climatic conditions that supports a huge amount of produce in this area.

There is considerable number of scenic beaches in Neil Island but the best ones are Bharatpur, Sitapur and Lakshmanpur.

Bharatpur Beach- It is one of renowned beaches in the region of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The beach is chiefly known for its exotic lush green surroundings and different varieties of fishes. The fun activities that you can enjoy at this beach are coral watching and swimming. It is a perfect destination for family vacation and also for the honeymooners.    

Sitapur Beach- The beach is one of the scenic beaches of the island which is very much popular among the tourists. It is located on the northern tip of the island and is widely known for its natural vegetation and limestone formation.

Lakshmanpur Beach- The beach is another scenic spot in Neil Island, which is very popular among the tourists for providing a beautiful view of sunrise amidst tranquil surroundings and a good swim in its waters.

Havelock Island

Havelock Island is located at a distance of about 30 km from Port Blair. It is the largest and one of the most scenic islands among the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The island is among the top tourist destinations of the region which is popularly known for its exotic beaches, beautiful coral reefs and several excellent sites for scuba diving.

Attractions

The Havelock Island is renowned for its pristine beaches among which, the most scenic one is the Radhanagar Beach. The beach was acknowledged as the ‘Best Beach in Asia’ by Time in the year 2004. Other attractive beaches that can be found in this island are Elephant Beach and Vijaynagar Beach.

Apart from the scenic beaches of the island, Havelock Island is also known for providing various kinds of adventure and water sports activities. Among the activities provided at this island, scuba diving is the most popular one.

Snorkeling is another chief attraction of this island. The equipments for snorkeling and scuba diving are provided by the certified operators of this island.  Snorkeling is a popular activity among the international tourists, which is slowly gaining popularity among the domestic tourists as well. 

There are plenty of beautiful locations within the island that are perfect for trekking, due to which it is also a popular destination among the trekkers.

How to Get To Both the Islands

Havelock Island and Neil Island can be easily reached by landing on the airport in Port Blair. From Port Blair, regular ferry services are available to both these islands.
