» » XIJIANG QIANHU MIAO VILLAGE

The Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village is situated about 260kms away from the capital city (Guiyang) of Guizho Province, China.
The village is having spectacular scenic beauty as it is located on the northern side of the Leijong Hills which is just 22 miles away from the Kaili city.

You will be amazed to know that Xijiang town has about ten natural Miao ethnic villages thereby being the largest gathering place in the whole wide world. When you visit the village you will find layer upon layer of wooden stilted houses which are closely connected that is on the contours of the hill. The village is at its best at the time of sunrise and evenings.

TRAVEL TIPS:
    If you want to see the whole of the village at one go then you should climb up the sightseeing bus which charges around CNY5 and is totally worth it.

    If you want to make the most of the Miao village then you must make it a point to visit it in the months of March to July or visit it during the time of local festivals such as the New Year Celebrations that is according to the Chinese Lunar Calendar (December 1 to 15).

    You can stay at the wooden stilted houses that provide splendid sightseeing and offers you a comfortable stay.
    Do make it a point to purchase the delicate silver artwork and items, for which Miao is very famous.
Do not carry heavy luggage as the stone roads will give you real hardship in dragging it.

    The Langde Miao Village is a famous nearby attraction which is just 2 hours away from Miao (if traveling by bus).

THINGS TO DO:
The Miao Nationality Museum: The Museum has around 11 halls which showcase all aspects of life in Miao which includes their culture, living behaviors, clothes, art and customs. To witness the real Miao do visit its Museum.

The Singing and Dancing Show: The seniors of the Miao village sing old songs of Miao Nationality origin. There are about two such performances held at the village square every day. You just need to enquire the timings and reach there on time.     

Two Streets: The village has two streets, one of which is ancient and the other is constructed in the modern era (Youfang Street). The specialty of these streets includes its restaurants, snack stores and stores of the silver products.

The Original Lifestyle of the Miao Nationality: You can experience the actual lifestyle of the people in Miao then you will have to wander around its twisted lanes and wooden stilted houses.

The Panorama of the Village: The night view and the early morning view which provides the spectacular Panorama of the whole village from the Sightseeing Platform is a must to watch.   

HOW TO REACH 
BY BUS:
The nearest bus stations to Miao are the Guiyang East Bus Station and Kaili General Bus Station.

BY TRAIN:

The nearest railway station is at Kaili so you got to reach the Kaili Railway Station first and from there you can take a bus and reach Miao in about 2 hours.
