The Taj Mahal is like a fairytale which is at the banks of the Yamuna River. It is one of the Seven Wonders of the World and one of the most recognized monuments in India.
The Taj Mahal was made in 1630 AD. In actual senses it is the tomb of Mumtaz Mahal -- the wife of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. He had it built to show the gesture of his love for her. It took 22 years
and 20 000 workers to complete. The details in the appearance of Taj Mahal are such that they just cannot be described in words.
Taj Mahal location: The Taj Mahal is located in the state of Uttar Pradesh i.e in Agra & is approximately 200 kilometers (125 miles) from Delhi. It is also a part of India's popular Golden Triangle tourist circuit.

Getting to the Taj Mahal: Agra is well connected by rail. The main railway station being Agra Cantt. Shatabdi Express services operate from Delhi, Varanasi, and cities in Rajasthan. Yamuna Expressway is also an option to travel. As an Alternate option you can fly from major Indian cities, or take a tour from Delhi.
Taj Mahal Opening Hours: It is open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day except Friday (when it's closed for prayer). It is also open for moonlight viewing from 8.30 p.m. until 12.30 a.m that is two days before and after each full moon.

Taj Mahal Cost: 250 rupees is charged to the foreigners and 500 rupees for Indian nationals. Children younger than 15 years are free. The night time tickets cost 750 rupees for foreigners and 500 rupees for Indian nationals, i.e for half an hour’s time limit. These tickets must be purchased 24 hours in advance.
One must not miss the Taj Mahal Mahotsav which focuses on arts, crafts, Indian culture, and recreates the Mughal era. Once in Taj Mahal festival one can enjoy the elephant and camel rides and different types of games too. The fact which will really excite you is that the venue used to celebrate the Taj Mahal festival is actually the place where the artisans who once built the Taj Mahal lived. 

Taj Mahal Travel Tips: The colour of the Taj Mahal gradually alter in accordance with the changing light of the day. It’s totally worth the effort to wake up early and spend sunrise there, as one can go speechless. You got to be prepared for the beggars at the entrance. You can get a great view of the Taj from across the river bank where you can overcome the inconvenience of the crowded area. The Mehtab Bagh, a 25 acre Mughal garden which is present opposite to the Taj Mahal is just spectacular. It is open till the sunset and the ticket here is 100 rupees for the foreigners. The view of the Bagh is remarkable and one which is unforgettable.
